How to download Facebook Messenger messages · How to download Instagram messages
Messages from a blocked contact can be reviewed if they are included in your archive. DMForensix does not recover deleted messages.
Four steps, from archive to documents
1. Open your archive
Start with the JSON archive supplied by Meta.
2. Find messages
Search contacts, words, and dates.
3. Review context
Read surrounding messages and available media.
4. Prepare documents
Export readable documents with source references.
Who is it for?
Individuals
Find exchanges about repeated contact, parenting arrangements, payments, or working hours. Prepare readable messages for an adviser or lawyer.
Anwälte und Rechtsteams
Search archives supplied by clients. Review the surrounding messages and prepare extracts with dates and source references.
Authorized investigators
Review supplied archives you are authorized to examine. Prepare a chronology across conversations. DMForensix does not extract data from phones.
Find a message. Read the surrounding exchange.
Search by contact, word, or date in one conversation or across the archive. Open a result beside the messages before and after it.
Review participants, available attachments, reactions, and call information. Missing media remain visible.
Export documents people can read
Read, print, or share a conversation extract.
HTML
Read conversations and available media in a browser.
CSV
Work with message data in a spreadsheet.
Markdown
Review structured messages or a chronology.
Export a complete conversation or a selected period. Keep enough context and preserve the original archive.
See a readable export and its source references
Detailed review requires more than a readable page. You may need to locate the exact source of a message.
The enriched Markdown export can record the JSON source file, the message index, and the original timestamp. A source register can include SHA-256 file hashes.
These references help reviewers return to the source. File hashes support later comparisons with the files used for the export.
Source references help you return to the files. An export does not by itself prove authenticity or guarantee acceptance by a court.
Three fictional examples
These examples use invented people, messages, and attachments. They illustrate review tasks and do not predict a legal outcome.
Repeated unwanted contact
Morgan asks Alex to stop sending personal messages. More messages arrive on later dates.
Find the request to stop. Review the messages before and after it. Compare the dates and the frequency of contact.
Prepare an extract with context for a professional to assess. DMForensix does not decide whether the exchange constitutes harassment.
Parenting arrangements
Morgan and Jordan agree on a pickup time. They later discuss a change for one Saturday and an activity payment.
Locate the original agreement and the later change. Read the confirmation beside the request. Keep the available attachment with the conversation.
Prepare a readable record before discussing the situation with a professional. An export does not determine parental rights.

Working hours and employment disputes
Taylor confirms three additional hours for an evening shift. Morgan later notices that the timesheet does not show them.
Search for extra hours. Read the shift request and confirmation together. Locate the related schedule and export the relevant period.
Prepare material for an adviser or lawyer reviewing an employment dispute. Payroll records and other documents may also matter.

More tools for detailed review
Build a chronology across conversations
An event may involve several people. Search a selected period across multiple conversations. Export matching messages into one Markdown timeline.
The timeline keeps messages in date order. It distinguishes sent and received messages. Source references help you locate the underlying records.
Examine communication activity
View message counts by participant. Examine activity by year, month, week, or day. Review the distribution by hour and day of the week.
Compare activity in one conversation or across the archive. Export chart data and chart images for further review.
These statistics describe the messages in the archive. They help you identify periods to examine more closely.
Review voice transcripts and searchable images
Voice messages may contain important information. DMForensix can include available SRT transcripts with the conversation. A compatible transcription tool can be launched when installed.
Optional Windows OCR can add searchable text to supported images and video previews in exports. Video previews also help readers identify media in a printed document.
Check important words against the original audio or image. Keep the original media with the transcript or export.
More situations where an archive can help
Harassment and threats
Locate repeated messages and relevant words. Review the dates and frequency of contact. Prepare a timeline with the surrounding conversation.
Domestic abuse and coercive control
Review pressure, repeated demands, threats, and financial requests over time. Compare periods. Prepare the relevant exchanges for a professional who can assess the situation.
Separation and parental disputes
Find discussions about children, schedules, payments, and agreements. Review changes and responses. Export the relevant period with its context.
Fraud and commercial disputes
Find payment requests, prices, delivery dates, and commitments. Locate related files. Reconstruct the sequence of the exchange.
Journalism and disputed public statements
Review an archive supplied by a source who participated in the conversation. Locate relevant passages. Compare them with the surrounding messages and independent information.
Preparing material for a lawyer
Organize the conversations before an appointment. Identify the relevant dates and files. Provide readable exports together with the preserved source archive.
Open a fictional cyberharassment example
This fictional example contains hostile language and references to threats of sexual violence. All people, dates, and messages are invented. This example illustrates how to review a conversation.
3 June 2026, 09:00 — Morgan Demo: Please stop sending personal messages.
3 June 2026, 09:03 — Alex Demo: You are worthless.
4 June 2026, 18:00 — Alex Demo: I will kill you.
4 June 2026, 18:03 — Morgan Demo: Do not contact me again.
5 June 2026, 20:00 — Alex Demo: [Message omitted from this public demonstration.]
The omitted line represents an invented threat of sexual violence. The omission was written for this public example. It is not original content or an automatic redaction by DMForensix.
6 June 2026, 21:00 — Alex Demo: I know where you work.
These are suggested review steps for this fictional example. DMForensix does not decide whether conduct is criminal. A professional can assess the material alongside other information.
For guidance on cyberharassment, see Service-Public und Cybermalveillance.

In the news: Messenger archives and disputed statements
Recent reporting about Jordan Bardella illustrates why message archives need careful review.
This example raises questions that also matter in everyday disputes. Where did the files come from? What was preserved? What surrounds each extract? What supports the identity of the participants?
DMForensix helps with archive review, source references, chronologies, and readable exports. We do not claim that DMForensix was used in this investigation. We have not examined the original archive or the report of the commissaire de justice.

Questions about DMForensix
Does DMForensix work with Facebook Messenger and Instagram Direct?
Ja.
Is there a version for WhatsApp or TikTok?
Nein.
Does DMForensix access my account?
DMForensix opens an archive that you provide. You request that archive through Meta’s own tools. You do not need to give us your Facebook or Instagram password.
Can I review messages from a blocked contact?
Yes, if the conversation is included in the archive you obtained from Meta. DMForensix reads the archive files you provide. It does not bypass blocking or recover messages that are absent from the archive.
Can DMForensix recover deleted messages?
DMForensix reads the data present in the supplied archive. It cannot recreate a message or attachment that is absent from those files.
Where does archive analysis take place?
Archive analysis and export generation take place on your Windows computer. License services and some optional functions may use a network connection. Sending an export to an AI service is a separate action that you control.
Does an export prove that a conversation is authentic?
An export can help document content, context, and source references. A file hash can help check that a file has remained unchanged since that hash was calculated. Neither function proves the identity of the author by itself.
Preserve the original archive. Ask the professional handling your matter whether further verification is needed.
Can messages be used in a criminal case in France?
Article 427 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure generally allows offences to be established by any means of proof. Evidence must be presented and discussed during the proceedings. The judge assesses its weight.
A message archive and a readable export may contribute to a case. Source files, context, and any further verification remain important.
