This is a small but important step for us. GitHub is a practical place to share code, examples, issue tracking, technical notes, and small utilities around our products. It also gives developers and advanced users a clearer way to follow what we build.

Why we support Ollama

We also want to show our support for Ollama. Local AI is becoming a serious option for people who do not want every document, screenshot, or technical note to leave their computer.

Local

Models can run on your own machine. That is useful when your workflow includes private screenshots, customer data, internal tools, legal material, or source code.

Flexible

You can choose different models for different tasks, from small fast models to larger models when the hardware allows it.

Private and affordable

Local inference can avoid per-request cloud costs and reduce data exposure. For many experiments, it is effectively free once the hardware is there.

There is one honest caveat: local AI benefits from strong hardware. For good performance on Windows, a recent NVIDIA GPU is usually the most comfortable path. Ollama’s own hardware documentation lists NVIDIA GPU support with compute capability 5.0+ and recent drivers, with RTX 30xx, 40xx, and 50xx cards among supported families.

Why this matters for Light Capture

Our next product, Light Capture, is designed around screenshots as real working files: capture, search, OCR, comments, metadata, and review. That naturally leads to AI-assisted workflows.

  • Generate useful tags for screenshot collections.
  • Summarize what appears in a screenshot without sending it to a cloud service.
  • Improve search by combining OCR, comments, and local AI descriptions.
  • Keep sensitive captures on the user’s machine when privacy matters.

Cloud AI will still be useful when speed, convenience, or model quality is the priority. But local AI gives users another choice, and we think choice matters.
